This is the second video from the 2008 moto season. A short clip on what Klint and Kris will be racing. The Egbert's won't be racing this summer, not that they don't want to race but because it's just too expensive for a young family to do!

Finally a race!

Klint and Kris participated in the races on Sunday. Unfortunately Kris' race day was cut dramatically short due to a twisted up tie rod, etc. He was coming around the first corner after the start line and got hit pretty hard. And that was all she wrote for the day. He was able to finish his first race of the day and placed 4th. Klint completed both motos was able to secure 2nd place for most of them. Here are a few pictures from the sunny, but windy race day.

Anxious to get riding

We were out on the 4-wheelers this weekend and took a ride down the long muddy wet power line trail towards the little su. It was fun to get out and do the campfire thing again. Even though it has snowed this week, getting out on the 4-wheeler and having a campfire along the trail is such a summer thing to do, it feels like the season has started. Now if only we can get the races to take place!

Snowy Kincaid Track

VE Racing got to Kincaid just a few minutes before four. It was a beautiful day, bright and excited for the start of a new season of motocross - but the track was covered with fresh snow. Still there were some out there riding around in the muck!

First practice Sunday was also canceled.

NRA Racing

I've (Connie) recently become an NRA member! I was just visiting their website and saw their NRA Racing page. Cool.

Kincaid in Anchorage

Anchorage Racing Lions

Visit the Anchorage Racing Lions website, this is where all points for the members are posted through out the racing season. The track is closed now but will reopen April 1...unless that is an April Fool's joke!

The board of directors will be meeting over the winter to plan the 2008 race season. All members are invited to participate in the meetings. Our meetings are held from 6:00 - 8:45 at the BP Energy Center, which is located just south of the BP Alaska Building at Benson & New Seward. 2008 meeting dates are:

January 3

February 14

March 13

April 15

We should be hearing from some of the others on this TEAM effort eventually.

I see that we are being limited on the amount of storage space for photos on Blogger via Picasa now. So I was gonna share more photos but I will hold off for the moment.

What fun is blogging if there is a limit to photos? I can see where this is going... $$$$$. Lots for Blogger and less for VE!

Oh well I want to share this picture of the night racing the guys have been studding up their tires for here on the ice. A track that Klint and Kris designed and keep plowed and ready to run their quads on. They have even invited friends from the motocross community for afternoons of being on the ice together. So far, it's been so cold! We hope for a day when the weather is just right and the interaction on the track develops stronger friendships within the racing community.

One thing we won't allow while out on the ice is alcohol. This time is family-style and we encourage participants to bring stuff to cook on the bonfire. VE has been providing lots of hot water for cocoa, hot cider, tea and coffee.

Our Racing Team

A family team consisting of VanWingerden's and Egbert's. At first this team was going to be with Klint and Kris VanWingerden, but since we all ended up at the same places and my video camera and my daughter's camera's were busy clicking away ending up with so many pictures of us all - this ended up being VE Racing, rather than VanWingerden Racing.

The guys got into Racing two years ago now.

I am their Mom, I will do the blogging and updating on the races that they all have been in. Pictures and stories about their racing experiences should be coming here.

My husband Doug sells AMSOIL products so being at the racetrack is a good place for him even if his sons were not racing.

Marie is our daughter and she takes fantastic photographs, many times she shares them at her blog: Alaska According to Marie.

So exactly how many in the family are into quad racing? Klint V., Kris V., Tony E., Kim E. (our daughter), Alexis E., Ashlee E., and AJ E., all of our grandchildren.

The kids race in Alaska and are members of the Golden Racing Lions. They race in Anchorage, Homer, Kenai, and Fairbanks.

Recently we were in Hawaii and stopped by their motocross on Oahu. That was fun to see!
